Economic inactivity is a major policy priority in the UK, driven by concerns over both labour shortages in key sectors and rising numbers of people unable to work due to health issues. This issue is highly complex, involving diverse groups with varied barriers to work, highlighting the need for a more proactive and tailored support approach. It is a prevalent, persistent and increasing issue in Cumbria. with far reaching implications for individuals, their life chances and prospects, and the local economy.
GC Insight have been commissioned to deliver a detailed and comprehensive analysis of economic inactivity in Cumbria. The study will provide vital evidence and the main guidance for potential actions to inform the development of Cumbria’s Get Britain Working Plan.
