Dr Cath Munro’s menopause cafe
7th October 2024
Update from Cumbria Police
To celebrate the upcoming World Menopause Day, Cumbria Police will be hosting another of our well requested on-line menopause café’s in partnership with Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service, the Fire Brigades Union (FBU) and UNISON on Tuesday 15th October from 11:30 -13:30.
We are privileged to once again have Doctor Cath Munro, a GP in Kendal, as our guest host. Cath is Cumbria’s only menopause specialist GP, and she moved to South Lakes 2 years ago from Stockport where she had been a GP for 15 years.
Cath has a longstanding interest in women’s health, having trained for 5 years in Urology before training to be a GP. She completed her British Menopause Society Advanced Menopause Certificate in late 2022. Cath has worked in a range of clinical and non-clinical roles and have always advocated for women.
Outside ‘usual general practice’, Cath works with clinicians across Cumbria to improve knowledge on women’s health and the menopause. As a registered BMS trainer, she also supervises interested clinicians in gaining their BMS certification. Cath’s favourite part of her job is working with women across South Lakes to better understand their hormones and know how to take control of their symptoms and find solutions that work for them.
Cath works within a network of women from all backgrounds, including yoga instructors, coaches, nutritionists and therapists, all of whom share a common interest in improving the health and wellbeing of women in the place where we live.
If you would like to ask Cath any questions at the event you can send questions in advance to wellbeing@cumbriafire.gov.uk. Questions must be submitted by Friday 11th October.
