Our Anchor Charter

Members of the network sign up to a charter which sets out the key vision and values. This is supported by a Progression Framework which allows members to self-report and demonstrate progress against the agreed areas of common interest and ambition.

The vision and values statements are:

  • Employing, developing, and investing in a workforce that is representative of our local population.
  • Providing stable and fulfilling jobs, fair pay, and great working conditions.
  • Using procurement and commissioning to create local social value and increase community wealth.
  • Supporting local charities, community groups and businesses through access to land and buildings.
  • Work in an environmentally sustainable way and influence sustainable local practices.
  • Providing access to communal green spaces and cultural spaces for every neighbourhood.
  • Supporting local collaboration, listening to residents and community power.
  • Taking a targeted approach to where and how our collective resources are used.
  • Purposefully and deliberately addressing health and other inequalities wherever they exist in our communities.

These statements of intent are reflected within six key thematic areas

Widening Access to Quality Work

Supporting people into work, developing opportunities within our communities and creating workplaces that are fair, inclusive and support health and well-being.

Purchasing & Commissioning for Social Value

Increasing the amount we spend in the local economy and embedding social value into our purchasing decisions.

Expanding Access to Anchor Resources

Creating benefit for our communities through use of our buildings, services and green spaces.

Reducing Environmental Impact

Adopting and influencing sustainable environmental practices in our organisations and communities.

Closer Working Between Local Partners

Creating opportunities for collaboration, developing networks to support, shared learning and spread good practice.

Tackling Health Inequalities

Listening to and working with communities, taking a targeted approach to where and how resources are spent, encouraging continuous learning and development around health inequalities.
